Every every year my parents plan one day during summer vacation for their Annual Extravaganza day.  Each year they pick another theme.  The tradition started many years ago, when the grand-kids were babies, we wanted to go camping, but couldn’t make a camping trip work out of town, so planned a camp-out in my parents’ back yard, complete with smores, and even used the projector to watch a movie outside on the back wall of their house!

The “backyard movie” has continued on through the years, but we have added a theme to each year.  One year was Pirates, another was Clue/Mystery, Last year was Indiana Jones, and this year…. Midieval!!! (I have to admit, I just had a blast looking at the old posts, and seeing how the much the kids have grown over the years- plus check out how preggo I was with Bella at the Pirate party!!)

My parents go all out in the planning for these events!  They send an official invitation each year, they decorate the back yard,  plan games and activities with the theme, food that go along with the theme, and even the movie is normally fitting!

Seriously this was awesome the way they transformed their backyard into a midievil area.

The tournament of Ping Pong!!  Many people enter the contest but only one can be victorious.

I had to christen the days events!!

and as always Bella the princess making her silly faces.

There was a event to see who could catapult a ball and destroy the castle.  Brian made it out of legos.  Pretty awesome if I do say so myself.Papa explaining how it works.

Brian hit the castle so well that he smashed the entire top of it.  If you look at the image above there were flags, a three guys sitting where the ball is in this image.

Jen showed great skill throwing her lance through the hoop almost lancing me in da face.  ;)

They had to joust and grab rings with their lance.

They had to cross the deep moat.

They had to slay a dragon.

Each kid after they did all the events was made a noble knight by the King and Queen.

Apparently Bella came up and instead of taking one knee, she tried to stand on her head.  Too Funny!

Once each kid was made a knight they walked through the tunnel of swords to finalize their valor and bravery!!

The feast……man was it so good!!

This is one of the best Extravaganza’s Nana & Papa have put on.  Tons of fun.  Now the question is can they top this one for next year?

Last weekend we went to Lodi, to a great venue called Wine and Roses to shoot John and Yen’s wedding. It was such a beautiful wedding and all the little details of the wedding were amazing!! Such a beautiful venue you couldn’t go wrong. We first met up with them at Yen’s Mom’s house where they had a traditional Vietnamese ceremony where her family welcomes Johns family they then pray at Yen’s family’s alter then serve tea to John’s family. There was tea, and some great food prepared from scratch. YUM YUM!!! Then we followed them to John’s house where they symbolize bringing Yen to her new home and joining into his family. At their home they had these awesome jello type desserts that were crazy good. Can we say YUM again?

The Rings!!! Who shot which one? Cmon Who shot which one????

The Dress!!!

This kid was too funny and loved being in front of the camera. He would say Cheese when we would turn to him!!

Later the girls left Johns house and they went to get there last minute makeup/hair touched up and ready to go. They guys on the other hand were already to go so they chilled out there and played some pool, and had a few beers, and played Wii. Yup Wii!!!!! Such a difference in the two groups. Guys are playing Wii and relaxing, and the Girls are getting ready still. Too Funny!!

Heres what the girls were doing before heading to the venue!!

And heres what the guys were doing!!!!

Wii Time Baby!!!!!

The Venue.

Jen’s View

Jen ROCKED THIS ONE FO SHO!!!

Yen was looking up at the sky all day concerned that it was going to rain, this seemed like a fitting photo

Love her reaction to some of the guests showing up.

So Gorgeous!!!!

John was so happy!!!

Movin in for the kiss, but wait, it was too soon, check and see, their friend, who was officiating put her notes between them to slow them down!!! hahaha

Can you see the happiness between them, cause I can. They sang the whole first dance song to each other

As some of you know Jen has at every wedding always got a few pics of me being a dork or just catching me off guard and getting wacky shots of me to post on the blog like this one.

Well I got her Good. HA HA HA!!!!!!

John and Yen we had such a great time with you guys and cant wait to show you the rest of the pics once we are finished.
